I got an email today from Marineland directing me to this.

http://www.marineland.com/Products/aquarium-filters-and-protein-skimmers/Mangnum-Polishing-Filter.aspx

Well that's good news....I see it also can use the old HOT mag filter cartridge ....now that's a plus.....cost? $39.99 @ Fosters and Smith....not bad  |^|

I will buy one and see how it works. It goes in the tank but I guess you can just pull it out to move it from tank to tank.

I ordered from foster & Smith 39.99 with free shipping. If the shipping discount doesn't come up automatically (it did for me) use discount code ship2me.

I read that you can run it in a bucket with DE powder to charge it with diatom.

The cartridges I think are 10-20 micron.

For occasional clean-ups I have been using a submersible pump attached to a big 10-micron sock, but I might try one of them.

It actually sounds better than our old Mangum 250.  The old ones did drip.  I can't get those water stains off my tanks.  I've tried CLR.  I will try again when my tanks are taken down and I can put them on their sides to let the CLR sink in.

Before I buy any I will wait for a review from you guys,
Always move forward. Never look back.

If I weren't fish room and horse pasture poor I would buy several at that price.

Since I run mine on all my tanks except  fry tanks and they run 24/7 except at feeding time, I put the dirty ones in a 3 gallon bucket and add 3/4 gallons of bleach and water to cover.  I soak them overnight and  thump them around to release more crud from them.  Then I put them in fresh tap until I get home from work.  I thump them again and put them in tap water treated with sodium thiosulfate.  By the end of WC I give them another thump and put them to dry.  This way if I have to use one that has not yet dried completely, all the chlorine is gone and I can use it while it's still damp.

I get a 3 gallon bucketful of filters about twice a week.
