I can remember spending hours figuring out all the notes with a grade school friend, Doug Hall.  Just a couple of country kids, we didn't have any sheet music, but Doug's Dad would let us listen to some of his records.  Doug had a pawn shop guitar and mine was purchased with S&H green stamps.
