Snot Tank

My Snot tank is huge and my Snots are tiny white things in a white container.  Besides, they are reclusive by nature.  The only thing I can add are my 6 Dots and a shit load of Mystery snails that have been staying in the happy hunting ground.

I've got 1/2 a zucchini in there.  They haven't noticed it.  The sides have algae for them to chew on.  They won't starve.  It's just a Snot thing.  They tend not to draw attention to themselves.

I'm not worried about the snots.  What I want is to add a bit more interest to their tank.  All I have is snails and Dots.  I think I'll buy a Betta.  He'd work in that tank and since I'll be siphoning by gravity he won't get sucked out.  Damn, I could even get a pretty group of female Bettas to put with him.  It would be fun.  I shall put that idea out of my mind.  The last thing I need is more fish.

How many are in there?  A half a Zucchini might be a little much for them. It will get soft and mushy before they eat it.  I start out with a small slice, replace it every day and increase the size of the chunk when they start eating it all.  Nothing prettier than a slice of Zucchini covered in wiggling baby bristlenoses.

There are 23 of them.  Their is snot poo all over the bottom of the tank but the zucchini has been left untouched.  I'll take it out and replace it with a smaller slice.  I'm sure they'll find it once they scrape all the algae off the sides.

I boil the zuke for just a minute in the microwave to soften it up...the young ones seem to take to it quicker then...it also lets the zuke sink immediately...

|^|been there...done that...had to retrieve forks...too lazy, I guess!...then they get buried in the substrate as the plecos and corys scurry around....

I rubber band them to rocks and retrieve them with a long handled net.  Some of Karen's terra cotta flower pots "accidently" got dropped and broken.  Some of the shards make excellent weights for zucchini slices.  Added benefit...The fish get used to the net being in there every day and it makes them easier to catch when the time comes, at least until they realize it is after them and not the Zucchini.

If I didn't know that there were 23 snots in the tank I'd think that all the only thing in there were 8 adult dots, a crown tail betta, and a bunch of mystery snails.  Those little suckers can hide.  I see all the pleco poo on the bottom and see where they've been scraping the sides free of algae so it's obvious that they didn't gather en masse and drink the Koolade.

Get them started on baby carrots as soon as possible. They don't foul the water or get all slimed up. Keeps them nice and orange.
