Air Pump Recommendations

What air pump do you recommend for running about 10 sponges?  I would rather have one pump running multiple tanks than having multiple pumps.  I am looking at the Eco-Air pump with 8 outlets.  Any suggestions would be great.  Thanks

These are indestructible.  I use the A102 series that is no longer manufactured.  Mine runs 20 sponges.  This one puts out a bit more PSI.

One of these Tetra deep water pumps will easily run 10 sponges.  I have a couple of these I just keep around.  Great little pumps.

I have the Tetra Deep 300 on my 150.  It is a great pump. 

One of these Tetra deep water pumps will easily run 10 sponges.  I have a couple of these I just keep around.  Great little pumps.

What do you use to run the different lines?

These are indestructible.  I use the A102 series that is no longer manufactured.  Mine runs 20 sponges.  This one puts out a bit more PSI.

Is it pretty quiet? Is it pretty energy efficient?  I don't want something that will use a lot of electricity.

I have the Tetra Deep 300 on my 150.  It is a great pump. 

What do you use to run the different lines?

I'm glad you asked!  I just happened to set-up some breeder tanks using on of my pumps the other day.  The tanks are on a roll-around cart that's not close to my air loop, so I used one of the Tetra pumps .



You need a couple of things.....

• 
  You need a "T" fitting so that you can connect the 2 outputs on the pump into a single outlet.  This balances to pressure on the 2 diaphragms and makes the pump work better.
  
  
• 
  You also need a "Gang Valve" these come in various sizes, 2 vales , 3 valves, etc.  You can daisy chain these together to get the desired number of valves.

Jehmco has a couple of air pumps that work really well in the $80 range. I have 2 of the $80 pumps running 2000 gallons around 75 sponges.

Thanks for the help everyone.  My next purchase will be an air pump and manifold.  I found one at Ken's Fish that is $40 and will run up to 40 outlets.  More than what I need but for the price I can't go wrong.  It's the EcoPlus Commercial Air 1.  It has good reviews and won't use that much electricity.  I think this pump is similar to what you have Liz.

I looked that pump up and it has no diaphragm.  I couldn't find out much else, but if it has no diaphram, it must be a linear piston pump like mine, but better!  And it only costs forty bucks!
