Good morning everyone. We dodged a bullet last night with the thorms hitting every community except ours. I was surprised to see no puddling on the street at all twhen I walked Kobe this morning. There was plenty of huge puddles to the north and west of us and it looks like south Jersey got their share too.

I'm in the fishroom doing a WC on the Discus tank. I still have to really fix the connection to the hose from the transfer pump but I've been able to rig something up to prevent the connection from coming apart and flooding the floor. This is a temporary connection that I don't trust but it worked well today.

As I was typing this, my post disappeared and actually posted itself. I probably hit a button to make it post while I was looking to retrieve my missing post. I copied the text from what posted and then deleted it. I then pasted the text here and all seems to be okay now.

This is an old computer that I have in the fishroom and sometimes it doesn't react as fast I think it should so I start pressing buttons faster than I should and get messed up. I seldom have problems on my much faster computer in my office/spare bedroom.

I'm going to a fire prevention meeting at 3:00 pm. This meeting was setup by the HOA in response to that big fire that we we had that took out 5 houses a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully I learn something valuable today. There will be fire officials as well as elected officials at this meeting.

Have a great day and I'll check in later

Good morning, Willie, and later Barb and Ron.

It is hot of the blazes here.  We are under something like a heat dome, and it will stay over us for a good while.  The temps on the thermometer aren't that bad.  92 is normal for a Mississippi summer but a heat index of 111 is not.  Needless to say that now that I took my fish to be shipped I will be staying inside all day.

I used my breather bags for the first time.  I sealed the bag with my new heat sealer.  I actually triple sealed it.  I really like these bags "on paper" but only time will tell if I will like them in practice.

For almost a month I will have no fish for sale.  It sure does seem strange.

Hi Willie, Liz and Ron, been a less than good day, but not awful. Last night from 1-3 am the awful storm hit here, high wind, pouring rain, thunder and lightening.  Liz you would have loved it, I did not.  But today is Ok with only a little storm mess to add to last week's.  One of my car's new tires has a nail in the sidewall, need a whole new tire. Ford couldnt find one the same, I sat there 2 hrs. They will find one somewhere tomorrow hopefully, put air in the tire and hope it lasts till the new one is installed.  These are $250 for each tire.  I get some kind of lower price due to the newness of the tire.  Also today my freezer ice maker quit, spent a lot on it a few yrs ago. Will not do that again, so I will buy bags of ice to fill the bin.  Dispenser works OK, at last for now.  Also found out a good friend has kidney CA that has spread throughout her body.  Her husband was a local fireman who died on the way to a fire 2 yrs ago.  She and I had planned to do some travel together.  All in all not a good day, but hope for better tomorrow.  You all be good,
Barb

Wow Barb. You sure did have a lousy day. So sorry about everything that's going wrong for you and your friend

I won't bore you with anything I'm doing. I'm just sitting here riding out a thorm and watching tv. Have a good evening everyone and Barb I hope that tomorrow will be a better day for you.

Barb, I can try to help with the tire problem.  I had a hole in my sidewall over a year ago.  The used tire places in Ellisville had gone out of business.  I asked a newly opened mechanic just here down the road if he knew a good place and he recommended a guy in Laurel.  It was a dump of a place, but most used tire places are, around here, anyway.

I told him that I had a hole in the side wall and he asked if I wanted it fixed or buy used tire.  I didn't know that could be done.  Nobody I know has known that it could be done, but he does it and he guarantees the patch for the life of the tire!!!

My tire was taken in and worked on right away.  I've been rolling around on that $15. patched tire happily ever since.  Call around and see what you can find.  Don't be surprised if your laughed at for suggesting that a sidewall patch is possible.  My guy said that the it's a more expensive patch and requires a slightly different technique but most used tire guys would rather sell a tire than patch one.  New tire dealers just believe what everyone believes.
