Good morning all. It was a whirlwind weekend for me that's for sure. It is 63 degrees under cloudy skies and 65 degrees later on today. There is a 50% chance of rain so we will get those drops falling off and on all day.

I got back yesterday to find my Goldeneyed dwarf cichlids had spawned for me. The female was protecting her brood from the  male and a lone angel that was temporarily sharing the tank.

I got the angel out of there and there is enough cover for the male golden eye to hide until it is safe for him to come out. She's got her little brood swimming with her looking for food. Frozen bbs is my friend until my regular bbs hatches later today.

But first I've got to get Vikki home to DC and while there I need to help her get her tank straightened up. She got hit with an algae bloom that is unmanageable for her. I have my equipment ready to load in my RAV and we will be ready to roll around 9:00 am.

Good idea. I'll see how bad things are when I get there. Could use one myself. lol No pictures yet. I don't want to disturb the new mom too much.

...just looked it up..

"The goldeneye cichlid is a species of cichlid found in fresh water from the Aruka River in Guyana, to the Maroni River in Surinam. It is often found on flooded savannas near the coast. The male grows to a length of about 5.6 centimetres while the female is somewhat smaller, and is thus regarded as a dwarf cichlid."

"The Golden Dwarf Cichlid (Nannacara anomala) is one of the most peaceful cichlid species, even among dwarf cichlids. Mature males display an overall iridescent blue sheen with some yellow fins. ... If spawning is desired, tankmates of other species should be kept to a minimum or avoided altogether."
