Title: How I ship my plants and also receive them from others
Post by: Ron Sower on May 30, 2021, 11:51:29 AM
...For me shipping plants seem much simpler than shipping fish...this is how I do it...
   1. select ziplock bag of proper size to contain the plant without breaking leaves or stems
   2. place a folded piece of paper towel in the bag
   3. place the plant on the paper towel in the bag
   4. pour in enough water to thoroughly soak the paper towel...don't do more than that...zips will leak!
   5. seal the bag...I like to leave some air in it so when I pack several bags in a box the air cushions and helps prevent crushing the plants...like the way potato chips are shipped
   6. select a box of sufficient size to hold the bag(s)
   7. pack the bags in the box
   8. seal box and ship USPS Priority on a Saturday

Only in the hottest months will the plants wilt. I've never used any coolant or heat source.

Others have used newspaper. You wet the paper thoroughly; lay it out flat and roll the individual plant up in it; bag it and ship it.
