That's a nice picture. Is Dottie a discus breeder, importer....?
Some people I run into, while liking fish and aquariums in general often question "WHY" some of us "get into it".
This picture exemplifies the other side of fish keeping that few outside the hobby, or the casual aquarium keeper ever see and are missing out on.

Dottie is a veterinarian. She is a founding member of NADA. She keeps Discus simply because they give her pleasure.

You hit the nail on the head, Ed. It's about the people perhaps more than it's about the fish. There are some bad people in fish, but in my experience the bad ones crash and burn (often with my help). To be considered a friend by the wonderful ones and to get to see them once every couple of years is joyous.
