By 2050, drug-resistant infections are expected to kill more people around the world than cancer. So, Public Health England is advising that more patients should be sent home for rest - and not given antibiotics - in an effort to stop the rise of these "superbugs". Antibiotics are vital in cases of severe infections such as sepsis, pneumonia and bacterial meningitis, but PHE says antibiotics are not essential, and shouldn't be expected, for every illness.

..I agree.....and Penicillin is a prime example..... it was way over used back back in the day.....doctors and even vets aren't trained for disease anymore....they're taught symptoms and given a list of drugs they might prescribe......and a list of tests to do, then a list of drugs , etc.......a good cow town pill roller is hard to find now days....doc or vet,,,,

?Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming ?Wow! What a Ride!? ~ Hunter S. Thompson

They are also overused in the raising of livestock.
Taking antibiotics get them to grow faster, but promotes antibiotic resistant bugs.

Livestock it the worst.  Been there, done that with my show goats.  If the animal is perfect you will go to great lengths to save it.
Always move forward. Never look back.
