Title: USPS Shipping
Post by: waterboy on October 17, 2017, 03:35:16 PM
Shipped my first ever box of fish yesterday.  Went USPS Priority.  No tracking info since it left Milwaukee at 7:00 last night.  Did they put it on a donkey cart or what?  Are they normally that slow in recording tracking Info?  Maybe I am just nervous because it is my first shipment.

Yes I know about tracking numbers.  It left the Milwaukee (Oak Creek) distribution center at 7:00 last night. Almost 24 hours and it is still on the truck?  How far do the trucks travel in 24 hours?

Dale shipped my fish Monday and they arrived Wed.  USPS said that they would be here Thursday.  Has anyone else noticed them adding an extra day to guaranteed delivery time?    I believe that they were loosing too much in insurance claims.

My vinegar eels were shipped the same day.  Last time I ordered the culture never arrived.  The seller never sent me a tracking number but after 10 days I contacted him and he shipped another batch.  Yesterday morning USPS tracking said that they were in Hattiesburg and on their way to Ellisville.  Today tracking doesn't even mention Hattiesburg.  It says that they left Nebraska and are on their way to Ellisville.

No wonder people get stressed over shipping.  USPS is screwed up.

Now that I am an expert (shipped one box of fish) I would say that they probably add the 1 day to reduce complaints.  If it gets there a day earlier than they said it would everybody is happy.  It might be up to whoever takes the package at the post office too.  But two days in one direction and three in the opposite doesn't make a lot of sense.  Yes they are a gov't entity so they have to be screwed up.

I think it's done more by zip code and the routes being used......
