This pair is from a Sta Isabel X (Rio Negro X PB Silver w/albino)...the pair themselves were selected because they have the strong Sta Isabel features, coloring/nose/etc....I pulled this one, so fingers and toes crossed that all goes well....
fingers, toes, and EYES crossed for ya! lol
Me too. ;)
So far, so good.... ;D
Still keeping my eyes crossed for ya...I almost hit a tree today driving though! I hope I don't go blind! lol
New rule....eyes crossed ONLY when safely at home. Preferably in bed. :o

LOL...... ;D :o ??? 8) ;)
You are too funny today Pauline! First the "food" for thought, then this. You are on a roll! I was really LAUGHING OUT LOUD when I read your comment. OK OK, I WILL ONLY CROSS MY EYES IN HOPES FOR JON AND HIS PRETTY ANGELS TO HAVE SUCCESS WHEN I AM SAFELY HOME AND IN BED! How do I explain this to my daughter if she walks in my room as I am doing this?? ha ha ha
I love this forum...you guys are great here. You always keep me laughing, or have something of cool interest.
Looks to be about 8 'whities' this morning...not bad, I picked most out and did a small water change..all's well so far.....
Good to hear things seem to be going smoothly. Looking forward to the "wrigglers" report. :)
There be wigglers..... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
YIPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!! So very happy for you!! Can't wait to see a youtube video of my hopeful next babies to be??!! I hope anyway! Gosh this is so cool ! I better shutty my mouth or I might jinx ya.
They're my babies to be also. Looks like we'll all be relatives. ;)
"They're my babies to be also. Looks like we'll all be relatives. ;)"
Yes, I know you've been waiting too! It's fun getting to hear this news isn't it? I feel like an expectant mother waiting on her newborn baby to finally be here! You'll probably have your babies there with you first...you're closer. So, what will we be, aunties then? Step moms? lol
That's great Jon.
Congrats Jon!
Good luck with them I also pull spawns when I am unsure of the parents
Sweet jon. Gotta love the wild crosses.
Well, they're off the slate, another water change and now to wait for lift off...
That's awesome Jon.
Again....fingers crossed! :D
They're popping around some..looks like soon...??
Yes!!!! :D
Well they're off....should be full free swim by this afternoon.... ;D..note this pair has a hidden Albino gene, see the little white ones??...I'm hoping.........anyway, the parent angels were bred by Ken and crossed by Neil Oyama...only about 12.5% of Ken's/Neils spawns could carry the Albino, the Rio Negro carried it, I think that I just 'flatassed' got lucky with this pairing out of the ones that I had...... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D...I'll go buy a lottery ticket today.. ;D
How cool! Love the video. And best of luck with your albinos.

CONGRATS! Looks like a good sized spawn! Very nice that you might have albinos in there too!
I hope you have better luck with ur albinos than I have:D

I do separate them and use very dim light and I still can't get them to make it past a couple weeks

shallow water??...this closes in the area and makes it easier to find food...feed lightly....
No I haven't tried shallow water yet, I'm getting some from a different pair though so maybe I will have better luck with them
I think you'll find about the same situation no matter the pair....Albinos are fragile at first, extra care to keep everything clean/fresh,..it's the nature of the beast....I've seen pics of larger Albino batches....keep trying, a viable spawn will come your way. Feed the parents well, and keep their water pristine, this will allow them to have the best spawn possible. the word persnickity comes to mind ....LOL....
The shallower tank will help a lot too....their eye sight is the issue, most times..they'll literally have to bump into the food to find it.....
Update on the fry, less than a week free swimming...the fry in front make it hard to see the rest that are further back.....big spawn....lots....
Well they certainly look active and healthy! Glad to see it. :D

I got that same talking to form jon years back and now I have a tank full of baby BN's..
moved to the 30 gal long....looks like they like it in there...disregard the background noise, it's my pump, I'm draining tanks for water changes...this is a biggie spawn...LOL..watch them shoal..group in the back of the tank shoaling too.....LOL...fun to watch..also, seems Neil had a gold in his Rio Negro cross....I'm seeing golds????...when they're bigger it'll be easier to tell...right now I want the heavily striped ones....yeppers...stay tuned...
Oh! My babies are in that group. ;D
That is one huge spawn and they look great. Nice job with them Jon.
I'm all about the heavily striped ones also.
That is a huge spawn! They look so cute! I too like the heavy striped ones. So exciting seeing their "baby pictures"! lol Pauline is chomping at the bit here ! lol It must be fun watching them develop and color up waiting and wondering.
You're still getting some aren't you Shatanka?
there looking great. that's a big spawn.

Oh YES, I am still getting some! I know you will be getting yours first because you guys are almost "neighbors." I may have to wait til the weather is good enough? We'll see. Hopefully they'll be grown enough to go when the weather is also cooperating...that would be good timing. I can just feel your anticipation though!! lol It's kind of fun seeing your excitement! ha ha I am excited too! I am getting my new set up ready; it's about cycled. I've got some fish already for it but have put them in other tanks for now.
So far, so good...they're eating well......
Yay!!! Keep on taking good care of them! We're counting on ya! ( that wasn't too much pressure, was it)? lol
Me too, me too. ;D
LOL ...I put "WE" are counting on ya... for you too! LMAO You are so cute with your anticipation! lol I know..me too. I can't wait to see what they turn out like. I bet Jon doesn't show us any pics of them until we get them to our house, just to keep us in this anticipation phase! LOL
I see stripes and fins...... ;D
Pictures of our babies....pictures, pictures! Or videos..... ;D ;D ;D

What is this word 'pictures'..???..... ;D
Fry moved to 55's today...looking good.....little pigs..... ;D
That's good news. How many are there?
Good grief, my eyes cross trying to count them LOL.....let's say 'tons'....very nice spawn.. ;D..I'll see if a pic comes out unblurred, they're non stop...

That's how I get a count of fry, take a photo.... much easier to count tiny fish frozen in a photo, ;)
Dennis
Well if you have more than can be counted with a naked eye estimate then that qualifies as "tons"........and that's a good thing. ;)

Oh I knew it! Ok Jon, what if we say Purty please with lots of sugar on top? Can we see pics of the little piggys? lol
Here's vid....didn't come out too well, they wouldn't pose....LOL
They sure are looking healthy and active.
Thanks, they were all over the place, top, bottom, both ends, yada yada...I couldn't get em all...they sure do love the big tank.... ;D
I remember that with my babies. I could take all kinds of nice pictures of them in the 10 gallon tank and even in the 29. When they were moved to the 55.....forget about it.

I know, once in the big tank they just scatter...LOL...funny tho, the Sta Isabel/Rio Negro cross fry shoal for about 1/2 hour after I turn the lights on every morning. I should try them......doh
Cool! They are getting so big! WOW..lots of them in there too!
