A real rock legend is dead. Gregg Allman was the voice of southern rock at its best. He did not fall into the genre of redneck rock. Southern rock bands like the Charlie Daniels Band and Lynard Skynard were just redneck musicians. Not Gregg Allman. He did a stellar version of Neil Young's Southern Man.( Southern man better keep your head. Don't forget what your good book says. Southern change gonna come at last. Now your crosses are burning fast). I saw him in concert numerous times. Including several concerts he played with his late brother Duane Allman. He was the voice of a humane, non racist southern group embracing black influences in his music. The word legend is overused. But legend fits Gregg Allman. He was one of the good guys.

I heard about his death on NPR while I was doing WC.  He was a hero of  the liberals in the south. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUvxRjYqjEQ
Always move forward. Never look back.
