I just got a call from Barb. She's in no mood to type so she asked me to type for her. Her husband Bill is having a big deal surgery Thursday. They didn't want to do it because of the huge risk, but it has come to the point where there is no choice. I'm lighting a candle. It worked last year. Pauline, she wants you to send a Michigan prayer. Everybody else, please do what ever supersition you use or send positive thoughts.

thanks for letting us know Liz...
Thanks for the heads up Liz. Thoughts and prayers heading to the Carolinas...
Dennis
Wow. Prayers go out to Bill and Barb.
I'm definitely sending prayers and positive thoughts out to Barb and Bill. Many of them. Thanks for telling us Liz.
Peaceful, healing thoughts go out to you, Barb & Bill. My wishes are that the physicians are skillful at their practice.
Thoughts and prayers headed your way Barb and Bill.
Sending thoughts and prayers. Hoping for a quick recovery
Praying for them. Hope all turns out well
Thank you so much friends. I will let you know if your thoughts and prayers help. This is risky surgery to repair a huge hernia from his abdominal surgery this time last year. He needs a large mesh installed into his whole abdomen to hold all his organs in place since the wall is gone. I can finish the rest of the move myself and will get others to help if I need it. The hardest of work is all done thank goodness. And we did take a nice vacation recently. Now for a tough time.
Barb
My prayers goint out to you
Barb called earlier. Bill made it through just fine. They hoped they'd be able to do the surgery laproscopicly. They didn't think they'd be able to, but they hoped. Thank God they were able to. It was way easier on him than if they'd had to make a huge incision in him, though all the scar tissue from his previous surgeries in his abdomen and put in a 12"X20" piece of mesh to hold his guts in.
He will have 6 weeks of painful recovery. Barb will insist on them giving him narcotic pain killers because the non narcotic stuff doesn't work for him. I told her to tell them that at his age it didn't matter if he got addicted. What he needs is some relief.
Thanks for the update, Liz...it's good to know that all went well.
Sending prayers. Happy to know all went well.
That great news. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
So good to hear all of our prayers were answered. Will continue to send the positive thoughts Bill and Barb's way as they still have a rough road ahead. And thanks again for the update Liz.
Thanks for the "good news" update Liz..........
Hoping and praying Bills recovery is quick and with minimal pain.
What I think is that if a human being wants to live everything should be done. If a person has had enough he or she should be allowed to go. I told you as much, JR. Bill wants to live. If he gets on narcotics he might be able to live more comfortably. Marijuana might help him with his pain. It certainly wouldn't hurt, but the medical stuff is not legal in NC. These supid laws....
Update, almost 24 hrs. since surgery. He is in a lot of pain but has a morphine pump he can self administer it. He is smiling and talking a bit, and eating some oatmeal right now. We don't know how long until he can go home, maybe a few days. Just depends on several things. We thank you all for your thoughts and prayers, they worked! He will have a 6-8 week recovery to make sure the mesh is all set well, Dr. said when it is all healed it will be stronger than his original healthy muscles, etc.
The surgery was done robotically! All very high tech stuff.
Barb
Say "hi" for us, Barb.
How soon before they try to get him up? They usually want you moving around some before going home, etc. Robotics has come such a long way in really a short time. Amazing stuff.
Encouraging update Barb. Looking forward to hearing reports of you and Bill sitting together in the new house sun room enjoying the lovely yard and pond. :)
Thanks for the update Barb. Great to hear all went very well. Take a deep breath and try to relax, you must be one stressed out lady with the move and the surgery and the bad weather.....
Dennis
Thanks for the update. It's great to hear that it all went well. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Good news! Thanks Barb!
And thanks to you too, Liz!
That is good news, Barb.
Ask the doctor about Dilaudid. For my kidney stone pain it worked way better than Morphine.
So glad to hear the good news. Still praying
Things not going well at all. Bill was put in ICU last night, he has pneumonia, is on a breathing machine, lots of tubes, etc. They say he has a chance, is getting the best of high tech care. My children are here, we all hope for an eventual return to health. Please continue thoughts and prayers. Thanks,
Barb
candle.
Serious good thoughts to him and you!
...good thoughts and prayers for a healthy recovery...
So sorry Barb. Praying here
Sorry to hear this. Prayer here.
Day 15 update, Bill is still in the hospital. Out of ICU 4 days ago, but still battling a blood infection. And other stuff. He is being very brave, and tolerating all the abuse to his poor body quite well. It will be many weeks until he comes home, he will need lots of time in a rehab facility to be able to walk and gain strength that is all gone now. I am a bit low, but keep moving ahead. I know better times await. At least I hope so.
Barb
Thanks for the update, Barb. Bill's a warrior, he'll get better soon....keep your chin up....we've got your back here.. ;D
Keeping you guys in my prayers. Thanks for updating us.
Still praying that things get better for you and Bill.
Good thoughts and wishes for a speedy recovery heading your way. Take care of yourself too!
Dennis
Thank you all, I am trying hard to get plenty of sleep and eat good foods. I
have about 100 boxes to unpack yet. No matter what, I am taking good care of my fish too.
Barb
Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. I can't imagine what you are going through with your move. it's difficult enough to move when everything is going smooth.
