You sure are easy to please when it comes to food, Mug.

I haven't met too many foods that I didn't like....however, grilled cheese sandwichs and tomato soup are up there with the best of them...It's the first civilian meal that I ordered while on R&R, in Singapore.....1967....and it was delicious......LOL

I love that too! One of my favorites. Especially when it is cold outside.

grew up on tomato soup and cheese toasties(thats what we always called them). still love them

Barb

Well now with all this grilled cheese and tomato soup talk I want some too.  I will make this for dinner in a few days.  Now to decide what kind of bread and cheese to use.  I have heard that there are restaurants in other cities that sell only these, of many different kinds.

Wonder bread and american cheese with Campbell's tomato soup is the classic.

I use a lithuanian dark rye with raisins and chiuaua cheese and I put hot sauce in my tomato soup. It's very different.
I have 100 fish tanks, but two pairs of shoes. The latter is proof that I am still relatively sane. The question is...relative to what?

ilroost

frank that sounds good. i put diced tomato's in the soup

LizStreithorst

Oh my, oh my.  I adore rye bread.  It's hard to find a decent loaf down south here.  I don't think I've ever had Lithuanian.  What's it like?

Did you mean Chihuahua cheese?  I've never heard of it.  Did you maybe mean Oaxaca cheese or is it something entirely different?  A dash of Tobasco in cream of tomato soup is an idea I should have thought of many years ago.

Suddenly, grilled cheese and tomato soup sounds very appealing!

And I won't tell you about the cold roast beef sandwhiches that I used to get at the deli in NJ.  Medium rare, sliced paper thin, served on white.  I could hardly get my mouth around the sandwitch.  It was HUGE!  I always asked for extra mayo.  They use Hellman's up that way.

Gee, Liz....don't get us started on 'Phillie steaks' either....LOL...only in Philly can you get a real good one....and they're worth the trip, too...

I've never had a Plilly steak.  I have taken myself out to a Ruth's Chris a few times.  Very expensive and worth every penny.  Everything served was to perfection.

I'm having something similar: pasta with tomato sauce and grilled cheese with broccoli in it! >D
