The Coelacanth's genome has now been sequenced. As a result lungfish are now considered to be closer to us humans than the Coelacanth.

Nice find, Bill....that's an interesting story..... ....too bad that they couldn't find a way to keep it alive.

I guess its kinda difficult to keep a 5 or 6 foot long fish from cold deep water alive when you are in the middle of nowhere.

They have recovered a pregnant female fish carrying embryos about the size of a baseball as I recall.
