Lizard stripes make them more difficult to catch.

Cleaver experiments show stripes on lizard tails make them more difficult to catch.
I'm thinking this might just as well apply to stripes on fish (such as Barbs and Danios) and explain why stripes on them are so common.

I think any stripper illusions would be due to attractions causing distractions more than to "motion dazzle".

There could be various sources for the objects of attraction and objects of distraction.
