I bought two from Pet Mountain a couple of months ago. Thankfully I did. I have 4 now but I am using one as a regular filter so I only have three rotating on the tanks.

I did notice. I lost another working one today. It kept taking the rubber piece off the bottom of the impeller. It did it to 3 impellers! I couldn't fix it so I got mad at it and the broken impellers and dumped them in the trash >:( I don't know if I can live without Magnums. I bought 4 :-[

Not the greatest price, but what choice do we have if we can't live without them. We all should sens letters of compliant to Marineland for discontinuing a necessity.
Well I was supposed to get my filter in the mail today and when it didn't come I looked in the tracking system and I saw it was delivered at 11 am this morning. huh
I rushed to the PO to find out what happened and when they give me the detailed tracking info it showed it was delivered but to my old address. It seems that I never changed my primary address in ebay. >:(
The person who lives at my old address works in the and was not home. There was no box in front of her door. If she gave the box back to the carrier he will probably mark it return to sender. If she did not she will probably take it to the management office where I have them looking out for it. ::)
I will have to get to the PO when they open up in the morning in case the carrier brought it back to the station. It need to intercept the package before it gets sent back to the vendor >:(

I actually got through to the PO by phone this morning. I was given the "internal number" by the window clerk last night. Spoke to a supervisor who is looking into it. She didn't understand why the forwarding system did not re-route the package to me at my new location. Hopefully someone finds the package. huh
I received the package at my front door today while I was out. It looks great but the power cord is much longer and has a breaker (GFCI) on the part that goes into the outlet. |^| |^| |^| What a shame to discontinue this fine product. huh
Mine arrived today, too.
Just got home and opened the boxes 'cause I was curious myself. They do indeed have the GFI. Strange. I've never ever had a Magnum trip a GFI's made in the breakers in my breaker box. I wonder if may be someone got a big shock from the an old one and sued the company and they discontinued them. Perhaps we are getting the first of the new models they're making.
I can't figure it...plain brown box and an improved design. What do you think is up? In any case I'm pleased to have 4 more, most of which will be stored until I need them. I depend on these filters.
I though it was explained in the E-Bay listing..... commercial model with longer cord and GFI, were sold to people who performed tank maintenance.

No, I imagine they sold them all along. The plain brown box is the give-away it was commercial oriented.

I'll be glad to. Another thing they did was remove almost all of the spare parts for the Hot Mag from their website. I got some things from Big Al's but I was getting them directly from Marineland at a fair price before. How long before Big Al's stops selling spare parts. huh

I basically asked, why did you do this to us when so many of us depend on these? If they don't give me a good answer I will not be a fan if this company.

I checked Marineland again and the spare parts page is back up. There is also someone who goes by BREX and he says that indeed the filter has been discontinued but that there is a replacement in the works. They need to get more of our money. huh
