Title: Selection
Post by: LizStreithorst on February 13, 2017, 09:18:00 AM
Is the pattern on Marbles totally random?  I have some kids that are very dark Marbles with a white streak going up the dorsal.  That pure white (it's actually blue) is very striking against the black.  Is there any chance that I could breed for that trait?

It might be a streak gene ??.....yes, it's random markings on marbles.....but I've seen some marble patterns be traits?...on certain lines....that will show up on some fry also.....

There is a streaked gene that expresses as a white streak on the dorsal fin.  If that is what you have, yes you can breed for that trait.

...streaked is recessive, partially dominant, I believe.....
