My long gone mother in law told me she used to eat green bean sandwiches.  She would take white bread, put Hellmans mayo on both sides, then open a can of green beans and line them up on the bread.  She said it was great.  Ever heard of a ketchup sandwich too?  My father told me that during the depression people would go into a diner and order just a cup of hot water.  Then they would put ketchup into it and have tomato soup.  True story.

Gross.

I do love a tomato sandwich with mayo and crushed red pepper. But only if it's on round loaf Italian Bread.
