I've been hoping for a 'white christmas', but it just doesn't look like that will happen this year.....bummer..
A great cup of coffee here this morning. On my second cup and the dog is still asleep. lol May finish the pot before he wakes up. I'll let him sleep since he spends half the night watching over me while I sleep. w!w
It's going up to the mid 50s today but it will be cloudy. It is going up to 74 on Christmas eve. That's fine but they are also predicting showers. I rather it was a little colder with no rain. I don't even mind the snow as long as it's all melted away by January 2. w!w
Well second pot will be on soon. I've got lots to do today including WCs that I haven't done on schedule. I'm still good if I do them today. huh
I hear ya, Willie...those nice temps are worthless if you can't get out and enjoy them... huh
Water changes done. I will now walk kobe then come back and tidy up the fish room a bit. Saw my L183s today (they've been hiding) and they are still looking good. huh
Dropped a cave in that tank to hopefully coax them out in the open again. They like to hand out by the sponges and heater. Temp in that tank is 78 degrees.
Saint's puppy's at the vet hospital;. Surgery scheduled for noon today. Bought a new phone. The electrition is on his way.

I had a smart phone once and I hated it. It was a Galaxy 5. My new one is a LG flip top. The one I washed was a Samsung fliptop. I lost all my phone numbers. I guess is they love me, they'll call me back.
I called the place I bought the generator from. I am so embarrassed. The gentleman told for me to look for it either taped to the battery or wedged between the muffler and the gas tank. It was wedged between the muffler and gas tank :-[ I can't crank it up yet though. The owners manual says I need to get a copper grounding rod. Otherwise I might electrocute myself :o

Grounding rods are cheap at a hardware store....but...
ask the electrician about it......you may be able to ground to a cold water pipe too....plus he'll have the heavier gauge wire too........if you're connecting the generator through your panel, there's a hierarchy as to where it's tied into the ground there...
Thanks, Mug. I'm still waiting for him. I will ask. I may even have the electrician do the wiring into the box. I think my carpenter can do it but I won't know if he's willing until I talk to him.
Well, well, well...there is nothing wrong with my electricity. I got a bum dryer!

The electrician blew me away. He refused to take money for the service call. He absolutely refused! How's that for small town ways?
Now, I have an important question...The electrician tested everything. He put the volt meter on the breaker in the breaker box. It was fine. He put the meter on the 220 outlet. It was fine. He took the piece of the back where the cord was attached and tested it there. It was fine!!!!!!
Yet, when the dryer guys replaced the drier he said that my cord was bad. They said they when they used my cord it didn't work and when they replaced mine with the cord in the truck it worked. I didn't watch this time, damn it >:(
How can it be that the electricity was able to get from the power line to, the breaker box, to the outlet, to the hook-up's on the dryer, and be the fault of the cord? Am I getting old and stupid or is someone being dishonest?

...does your dryer plug into an extension cord to the outlet?......and if their cord??..worked...why didn't they leave it?....when they deliver they're supposed to set it up running correctly, etc...
My cord goes straight from the dryer screw-ins to the outlet.
I asked why they didn't leave the old one. He said that this one was already in and they'd take the old one back to the store and sell it. It was no longer in the box but he said it didn't matter.
The more I think about this the more I believe that there is dishonesty and theft afoot behind my store's back. I won't go accusing until I know for sure. What do y'all think? I'll call my electrician tomorrow and get the expert's opinion if you think I'm right. If y'all and Mr. Brady think that something ain't right in Denmark I can take it from there. I won't let this slide if I'm right. The two things I most despise are a liar and a thief. It's one of my quirks huh

The one they brought works.
If the electrician took the back off the dryer and checked where the power comes into the unit and it was fine, then the cord could not have been bad. That was what he was checking when he took that measurement.
If all is working, what's the issue? I must be missing something here.

.if the cord there now is good, and it won't run...then the machine is bad....if it runs now.....what's the issue??...a swapped cord??..............are you drying clothes with it now?.....yes/no...
I understand the thing about them saying that they swapped a cord when they didn't.....new machines come with cords on them...nothing to swap...
I find this interesting. Many possibilities.
It could be that:
1) The install guy could have damaged the cord when taking out the dryer and only noticed the damage later (a not too smart option), (could be something like a tab on the end of the cord getting pulled off).
2) The install guy might not understand electricity very well (another stupid guy hypothesis).
3) There could be mis-communication between any two of the people involved (you, electrician, install guy).
4) There might be some kind of twisted economic incentive for the store or the employee to say it is the opposite of what it was.
I put the most trust in the electrician. He's probably the most knowledgeable, tested everything, and has no personal gain incentive.
I've thought about it some and decided that it was a case of stupidity. The store wouldn't screw me just for the price of a cord. I'm a good customer. I went to the hardware store this afternoon for a couple of 24" fluorescent tubes for my overhead kitchen light. I talked to the guy who is either a manager or assistant manager. He was the one I talked to after the electrician was here. After I called and told him that the electrician said that it was the dryer he called the electrician and talked to him. The electrician told him that he tested that power was getting to the dryer. At any rate, I've decided that nothing untoward was going on. Stupidity is not untoward.
I'm having second thoughts about the installation guy, though. He asked me about my old tractor and when I told him that it was broken he said that he could fix it for me. He said that he was really trained as a diesel mechanic but his job at the hardware store pay's well and he couldn't get a good paying job as a diesel mechanic within driving distance. I was all hot for him to to it on the weekends. Now, I'll think on it a but longer before I let him put his hands on it. He sure did like my old tractor. He asked it he could examine it after he finished with the dryer. I'm not sure if I trust him. I'll talk to him again and decide.
