I've been using a french press to make coffee for the last month or so.  I think the percolator will be permanently retired.  The press makes fantastic coffee and is so easy to use and clean-up.  It's super quick too compared to perked coffee.  For years I didn't think coffee could get any better than perked, but I believe I was mistaken.....

I remember the coffee in the Army mess halls. They took a 50 gal pot..heated the water to simmer, then tossed in the coffee grounds....they'd stir it with a wood paddle....then let the grounds settle out.....ladle and drink...awesome coffee.... ;D
