The Brazilian city of Sao Paulo this week marked International Noise Awareness Day by putting hearing protection on the city?s landmark monument. The men and even horses on the Monument to the Bandeiras, which commemorates the 17th century expeditions into Brazil?s interior, were helpfully given bright yellow ear protectors to raise awareness about ever-increasing urban noise.
