I used a Nikon CoolPix 2000 to take fishy photos for a couple of years.  When I thought I needed something a little better, Internet research lead me to the Canon point and shoot models that also allowed for manual settings of ISO, shutter speed, and aperture.  When I buy something better, it will probably be another Canon.  I've been very happy with the images they produce.
