A question about The Beast

My vehicles are like pets to me so I thought I'd post this here.

The Beast has a clear coat.  He has a few deep scratches that go down to the paint that I can do nothing about.  He has may superficial scratches that I think are just on the clear coat.  I've looked on line but I've found coflicting information.  Is there some polishing compound I can use on him that won't distroy the clear coat?  If so exactly what product should I use?  I want to get him back to his beautiful studly self.  It will make him feel good and it will make me feel good.
Always move forward. Never look back.
