If I have any beliefs about immortality,
it is that certain dogs I have known will go to heaven,

?Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming ?Wow! What a Ride!? ~ Hunter S. Thompson

If I have any beliefs in reincarnation,
it is that the best thing to come back as is a dog who is loved,

I wouldn't like exactly that.  Too much fussing, and coddling, and trips to the vet for nothing.  I wouldn't mind coming back as one of my country dogs.  Good care along with freedom.  What better life could there be?
Always move forward. Never look back.
