yup ;D
I found a good deal on a dehumidifier and the DeWalt flash light, too. Saved money and a trip into Lowes. I'll have to put up with a dripping ceiling for a bit longer but I've been putting up with it for a couple of weeks now anyway. this is the dehumidifier I choose. Christmas is coming early this year ;D http://www.ebay.com/itm/Frigidaire-FAD504DWD-Energy-Star-50-Pint-Portable-Dehumidifier-/301562526280?hash=item463686fa48:g:khEAAOSwPcVVwFRG

Nice..it should have a nipple for running a hose right to the drain too....I run mine that way....never have to empty it..
It does. that is a necessity. I run mine out the pet door. When my carpenter comes I'll have him drill a hole through the wall for it.
Can't that water be used for water changes?

that makes good sense to me
It should be as good as RO. I tried it with my pairs. At first I thought that it was fine. After many weeks I started to see a difference in my pairs. I can't put my finger on it but something just didn't seem right...It should be good to use but I don't trust it.

it could be metal from the cores, plus anything in the air like smoke, candle smoke, room spray, and odors will influence the water....if it were run outside, it'd be closer to good distilled water, I'd guess.....but inside, even the smell of a good roast gets pulled through the coils...
I suspect that that Mug is right about it picking up metal from what the water is condensing on.
Either zinc or copper can cause problems at levels as low a fractional parts per billion (you need a special test to measure these levels which can cost $100 each). Copper of course in in brass and copper, which are probably not in the condensor but might be in the outflow fittings. Zinc is in galvanizing on lots of things. Many metals are mixes of a variety of different metals so there might be a problematic source anywhere.
We had a problem like this when I was running a zebrafish stock center and traced it back to some metal plumbing parts that dissolved copper and zinc into the water supply.
Water with low hardness levels (found in the condensed water) will be better at dissolving of metals.
I love the knowledge base of our members..!!! |^|
I'm looking at this one now. It runs on propane, too. I like that. I wouldn't have to worry about running out of fuel if it could be hooked up to the propane tank that runs gas to the house. If that job would cost too much, it will run for 11 hrs on one of those little bottles. What do you think about this one compared to the gasoline only one that you recommended earlier, Mug? http://www.ebay.com/itm/DuroMax-XP4400EH-Hybrid-Portable-Dual-Fuel-Propane-Gas-Camping-RV-Generator-/400783291524?hash=item5d508bb484:g:4u0AAOSwgkRVSPoR

Nice generator.....runs on both Propane and gas....if you get get it hooked up thru your propane line it would be great....and then never having to worry about old fuel sitting in the tank...
Good. I bought it ;D
Nice generator Liz! With the 240 outlet you can wire it into your breaker box to run your well pump and the like. That's what I used to do here to keep Terri's oxygen equipment running. I could run everything, (not at once), except the heating/ac wired in that way.

It was shipped yesterday and is already in Mississippi! FedEx will deliver it tomorrow. God knows how I'll get it out of Charlotte once I bring it home. It weighs 158 lbs.

..make a ramp with a board....slide 'er down easy...
I just walked out to the old barn and found a couple of 2X6X12's and brought them to the house. I'm all excited! We're supposed to have a big storm with dangerous winds Saturday or Sunday. Wouldn't it be cool if the electric went out? I'll put it under the carport for now.
Who knows this...The lp gas comes into the house from the opposite side than the carport and fish room. The breaker box is in the laundry room right by the fish room. It will be less expensive to hire a plumber to run a gas line to the carport than have the carpenter run electricity the up a wall, into the attic and down to the breaker box, right? I think that my good carpenter can to the electricity part if it isn't terribly involved I doubt that he'd do the gas. Too much liability involved...Shoot, I wish he would answer his phone. I don't expect he will until after Christmas or perhaps even until after New Years ::) I can't even get my back up guy to answer. I hope he's not back in the hospital with pneumonia.
Shoot...I'm being silly. I've been without a generator for several years now. It's not like this is an emergency.

I don't know what I'll name it yet. I don't even know yet if it's male or female. I have a feeling that it will be male.
I won't name it Gladys. Gladys was my number one dog for 14 years. She was a 3 legged one eyed Pitt Bull. She got cancer and I had to have her put to sleep. Her nick names were Gladys Happy Bottom and Gladys Waggin'ass. She had a shortish tail and when she wagged her whole butt would go back and forth.
I hope I got it unloaded today...still lots of time...but I took myself out for an early meal and ate more than I ever eat. I need a nap now :-[

Machines/motors are female...Jan's aunt Gladys was called 'happy bottoms' too....you're right, that name won't do....possibly something like 'Martha' huh
I got it unloaded and unpacked. I had to remove a block of wood and a metal shipping brace and the brace was on so tight I couldn't budge it with my little 10mm wrench. It's getting dark and I won't be able to see well enough to root around in the tool box for a socket and extension. I'll do it tomorrow.
No owner's manual (?) and more importantly, no key :o

The key is either in the manual packet, or taped to the unit itself....
Manual.....http://www.manualslib.com/manual/617229/Duromax-Xp4400e.html (http://www.manualslib.com/manual/617229/Duromax-Xp4400e.html)

See if a local generator repair show has a 'temp' fix to run it??....worth a phone call try...jump it??
..and look through the crate/box again...under it?....stuck to the packaging??....inside pkg slip envelope taped on the side??...
I'll look again when it's light out.
No key :( I had to wait until I put the wheel kit on to know for very very sure. It was behind Charlotte sitting on it's box which I had taken apart. It's too heavy for me just to lift up and move until I got the wheels on. After I moved it I looked on both sides of everything an there was no key. It must have been in with the owners manual which wasn't sent either. Oh well, I expect to hear from the seller Monday.
And you should have seen the pictures and instructions that came with the wheel kit. The instructions were worthless and the pics were so bad you couldn't tell anything from them. It was obvious where the handles had to go. Once I saw that I was able to look at the other parts and figure it out on my own. They sent a cheapo 15mm wrench with it but if I hadn't had a 1/2" ratchet and a 10 mm socket I couldn't have done it.
I won't be able to name it until I crank it up and put it into use.

..at least you're ready to go....I have those instructions that come with 'their' tools.....cheap one use tools....if they work at all...
I am not ready to go >:( It won't run if I don't have a key and I never got a key! I expected to hear back from the seller today but so far I have not. I'll give them one more day before I file a complaint with Ebay.
Sellers must be swamped this time of year. I have three working dehumidifiers, two of which I offered to send back if he would send pick up. I haven't heard back. A neighbor bought an electric scooter for one of her kids and it arrived broken. They sent her another and told her to keep the broken one that can be fixed. Since when is it easier to let go of hundred of dollars of merchandise easier than taking things back for the cost of shipping?
You might start trying to get a hold of the manufacturer and get a new key....even if he sends you one, you'll have a spare if needed...give em a call on their 800#....google should have it, or their web page......'parts' huh
I don't think so. It is the seller's responsibility to make this right. If I don't hear back from them tomorrow I will complain to EBay.

..but you still won't have a key, complaining to ebay might get you a breach of sale?...or money back...yada yada....but no 'noo-kie'...LOL
I'm just thinking proactive....get the thing where it will run, if ya need it...
I imagine you're right. I'll see if I hear from the seller tomorrow. It will be faster if I go straight to the manufacturer.

If any of your local stores sell these generators, ask them to order you one.....they may even have an extra for some reason??...might be worth a call??..
I hope you find a way to lift it.
It's 158 pounds you said, so I am assuming it's pretty heavy.
I got the wheels on. It involved lifting but not too much. Once the wheels were on I moved it to where it will live. My problem is that I cant run the thing because they didn't send the bloody key >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
You're giving him til tomorrow to get back to you right?
yes.

No >:( I'll contact the manufactured when I get home from work.
I just contacted them. Hope I hear back soon.
I have not as yet heard back >:( I did a different search for the EBay seller which is called factpruauthorizedoutlet. This time I found a phone number. I will call them Monday. I don't care if it's Christmas and they're busy. I have an expensive piece of equipment that is nothing but a Christmas ornament. Someone there had better make this right or I will slam them on their feedback.
