I have some Phlox planted in a place it's not suited for. I wanted to dig it and move it during the colder weather but never got around to it. It's too late to do it in the next couple of weeks, isn't it?
You can do it now. Just dig up as many of the roots as possible, replant and keep it moist. It will be fine. If possible do it on a cloudy day not a sunny one. Easier on the plant.

Should I cut them back hard?
Cut half way back. How tall are they?
Only around a foot right now but I may not get to it for two weeks.
