But these guys brightened it up somewhat. I took some of their pictures through a window so they wouldn't leave.

That's a Sandhill crane Dennis. We have a pair of them that hang out near our shoreline. They do the crazy bobbing and jumping up and down with their wings spread mating rituals. They're quite tall.

My Dobe was going to chase a family of them away last year. The birds turned towards him, strutting with their wings spread. He watched them for a short time then ran back to the house.
