If I didn't just spend a few thousand on my truck I'd have gotten a few more tens.

Thanks Dennis. My favorite collectible. Now those when I find them I do salvage. On CL they seem to treat that like a retirement account wanting hundreds for them. So far the 6 I have were free or in the case of one 55 $30 with iron stand. And it was a non leaker.
You are very welcome. I'm quite fond of them myself. ;)

What's the deal with sealing them with silicone,i think i heard it won't stick to the slate bottom.
If you found one with a glass bottom, would the silicone work in the corners,of wouldn't it bond to the old tar sealant too?
I would love to have one,if i could find one in decent shape cheap.I saw the matching hoods on ebay, which would be a must have to compete it.

Silicone like the GE 1 will not stick to the slate. I use the DC 795 for rebuilding them. The asphaltum will come off with a heat gun, patience, and a putty knife.
