So this is something that comes naturally to birds?  We have parent wild birds bringing their young to our feeders and I wondered if they were showing the kids how to eat seed.

They do in wild birds for sure.  I've seen Cardinals bring their kids to the feeder.  The kids will squeal and open their mouths but the parents refuse to poke food down their gullets.  They teach them how to eat seeds instead.  Watching it is cool.

It seems so....as is the preening, he's picking his own pin feathers off as his full/natural feathers develop .....even spreads his wing out to preen it....he's getting a personality too.....cheeps and coos when Jan goes to feed him..... with me, he wants to sit on my finger and be fed....the cheeping/cooing with Jan tells me he's a male and will bond with her quickly.....both of us really, but he'll prefer his 'girl'...........Pete does it too......goes nuts when Jan's car comes down the street, even before pulling in the driveway.....he just knows... ;D

I had forgotten about our cockatiel announcing my arrival like Junior does with Jan.  It's a mystery....

This is a peach faced lovebird, they do that in the wild, to take leaves and branches to the nestsite and make their nests.

Another interesting animal fact.  It's like this bird has a built in back pack.
