The 'Streak'

Sunday marks the 75th anniversary of the beginning of Yankees legend and baseball Hall of Famer Joe DiMaggio's 56-game hitting streak.

In honor of the anniversary, MLB Network is airing a special: "MLB Network Presents - 56: The Streak"

As noted by CBS Sports' own Jonah Keri in that clip, a hitting streak the length of DiMaggio's these days would be pretty ridiculous. It's hard to see it happening any time soon and I'd be wagering on it not happening. Speaking of which, Pete Rose is in there, too! His 44-gamer is the closest anyone has come to DiMaggio's record since it happened.

"I never looked at the hitting streak as any pressure because only one guy did it more than me and that's Joe DiMaggio. So, what's there to pressure? There's only one Joe DiMaggio," said Rose.

Just for fun, DiMaggio's line during the 56-game streak: .408/.463/.717, 16 doubles, four triples, 15 homers. Decent!

it belongs here...not the b-ball thread...sheesh
The special airs Sunday, May 15 at 8 p.m. ET on MLB Network. It looks like a must-see for baseball fans.
