Sometimes fish just hold them for a long time, I've noticed that after they do this the spawns aren't up to snuff, viable.....not always, but a lot....enough to notice....

Hummmm..I think I've had that twice here lately.  Eggs turned white and dropped from the cone starting 12 hours after fertilization.  I wonder if I had egg dumps.  I couldn't figure out reason for it.  I have a spawn from a 3rd pair that will free swim tomorrow.  Water was the same in all three tanks and maintenance was the same.  Think they could have been egg dumps?

..it could be, my observation notes that sometimes they'll just eat them quickly, even if raisers...they appear to know that spawns not right....I'm thinking a lot of it is a surprise to the male and he's not ready.....no pre-spawn foreplay
