Dennis probably has the most experience on this. He's made several how to posts here somewhere.
I have a few in some 55's and larger going cross-wise. The blue foam shows up pretty well, but I don't care since they are not show tanks.

I have seem a lot in the Wet Spot, set-up in basically the same way I think.
Theirs were old, dirty and grown over with small plants and algae, so they looked more natural.Some might think them nice, and some not.
If you could put one across the back and you like that look, it might make a nice background.

Putting them in the corners would probably be less intrusive. Dennis has how-to's on that.
