I have a pair.  They can't accomplish anything in this 30 gallon in the kitchen with the 3 males spending all their time fighting.  The poor female spends all her time staring at the penis.  Once in a while her fella goes to her side and stares with her, then the fighting starts again.

I'm thinking of moving the 2 competing males to the fish room and starting to change the water in the kitchen tank with RO.  I'll do it if my hoses will reach from the RO container to the container in the kitchen.

Woo hoo, yippee, and yaaaay!  Move the 2 extra guys and get that breeding tank ready.  Who knows, maybe you could have some young ones to sell at NADA!  Remember JenTN and her nickles she brought to Atlanta?  Sold a bunch of them at $10 ea. Yours would be bigger.

I paced it off and my hoses reach.  I needed to know anyway because when I have the stands redone I'll have water containers everywhere and I'll need my 1" hoses and 1/2 hp pump to move a lot of water fast.  I moved the 2 extra males to the fish room and the love birds are alone and happy and penis staring at last.

I have eggs but I won't have fry.  The female started laying just before WC.  I did the WC on the fish room then checked the pair and she was still laying but he never followed.  He was interested and hasn't eaten the eggs but he never made his runs.  I did their WC with RO and hung around watching.  She went back to laying.  He just watched with curiosity.  His tallywacker isn't even down.

It's OK.  Males are generally later to mature than females.  Also, this isn't the really nice male that she shimmied with shortly after they arrived.  My plan was to let her have her first choice one time, see what I got and then switch to the better male.  I guess I'll be swapping males sooner rather than later.  The best quality is more mature looking than this one.

They are still guarding the eggs this afternoon.  The ones she laid on the other side of the cone have been eaten.  I doubt it but there's a chance that the young guy got in a swipe while my back was turned.  I'll know in another day or two.

It's what I was hoping even though I was going to give her a nicer male after this time.  Their eggs still look good, but it's only been 24 hrs.  My heart won't be broken if these aren't fertile.

Eggs were not fertilized.  I did a male swap early last week.  She was happy with him from the get-go.  Looks like her tube is coming down.  It shouldn't be long...perhaps later today or tomorrow.  Fingers crossed this more handsome more mature appearing guy gets the job done.
