Pauline are you ok up there?...I just saw all the road accidents caused by the ice storm......50 car pile ups ?...it had to be pretty rotten weather ? I didn't see anything about power outages, but there had to have been a bunch with all the ice..?
I'm up early. Coffee's done and tastes good as always. Nothing major, just 8 o'clock brand.

I am up and on my second cup only. It sure is good. Now that my laptop is on the fritz I have to go to another part of the house to get on my desktop. Pretty inconvenient at this time in the morning. It's in a bedroom that doubles as an office area. ::)
Pretty cold out there at 27 degrees but thankfully the winds have died down some. The cold is one thing but coupled with the high wind we have been having makes it difficult for dog walking. huh

LOL Since I got the new TV I've been doing just the opposite. Laptop is hooked up to the big screen and I hardly ever use the desktop. That will change this afternoon as I've got some web work to do.....

..did you hard wire from the laptop to the TV..?

It's hooked up with an HDMI cable. Same as you would connect the cable box or DVD player. TV has composite hook-up too, but it functions like an old tv and doesn't work well for computer output.

That's a great idea. I have a few extra keyboards and tons of cables. I also have a wireless mouse for the laptop. I am sure I have some combo that will work. I'll look at that after I do all my fish stuff this morning. I have a water change to the schedule today.
In the meantime I am also going to order the bottom case for 39 bucks and perform the necessary surgery on the laptop after the holidays.
Thanks Dennis

That's exactly what I'm doing Willie. Wireless keyboard & mouse, laptop is across the room next to the TV.
Next step is to figure out how to do picture-in-a-picture so I can work on the laptop and watch the bowl games at the same time. LOL

..wireless mouse and HDMI cable we have....but I'll need to look for a decent wireless keyboard...I've just used a flash stick to store movies on and plugged that into the TV...but downloading those, and music, etc would be easier to watch right from the HD....
Morning all. I washed my phone last night >:( It sure is clean. It sure doesn't work. I'll do what someone here told me to do last time I washed it. I'll give it another wash in pure RO, dry it out and hope for the best. It worked last time.

I am chillin too. I am going over to my neighbors house in a little bit to check out his train setup. He and his wife are having an open house.. He's got 5 different lines running in his basement. I've been told it is pretty elaborate. |^| |^| |^|

I don't think I'll be able to resurrect the my clean phone this time. I took it apart and gave it a bath in RO, put it on top of the dehumidifier to dry, WD40'd it and I ain't got much. Sometimes I see a but of light in the darkness of the screen, sometimes just blackness. I wish I could take the screen part off the top and WD it, but I can't get it apart from the phone's body. I'll leave it on top of the dehumidifier until morning and sleep with my fingers crossed.
It's strange that I can make my through the greatest of life's crises and yet the little stuff whupps my arse. Phone, harrumph. Generator key, harumph. The brakes on The Beast, harrumph, harrumph, harrumph >:(

Chin up....2016 is on the way........by the by, why not use your hair dryer ?...
I don't have a human hair dryer. I have a big dog one that I used last time. My head told me that since the dehumidifier would be more gentle. The heat that it puts out isn't hot but it is almost devoid of moisture. Is my thinking wrong?

..who knows ?..... huh ....but dehumidifier's rarely get
all the moisture....
I'll be in Hattiesburg tomorrow for an 8 am appointment with Saint Puppy's vet. If the phone doesn't work by morning, I'll buy another. I hope that they will be able to salvage my phone numbers.
As long as your dryer doesn't make your phone too hot, it should be OK. I'd try to keep it under 100˚F.
Alternatively, you could put it in a plastic bag with some dry uncooked rice. The rice will absorb the water out of the air and indirectly suck it out of the phone.
Another approach would be to put it in a partial vacuum. This would also evaporate the water. Would need a vacuum pump and an air tight container though.
I have had 3 water vs. electronics fights recently.
I lost two of them and one (laptop) recovered some partial function, but is real slow now. I use it to back up my back up disks.
One of the losers got a mixed drink with lots of sugar and other chemicals that won't evaporate.
I'm doing it my way, Bill. If it comes to life, lucky me. If not,I'll deal with it. It's just more small PITA, after all...
Nice day overall. Full tummy, clean house, all laundry done and dried on the line. In not too long I'll be snuggling my clean body under my clean sheets with 3 dogs who are not clean but I don't care. Life is good ;)
