Timed dog release?

I'm trying to figure something out. We are putting an electric fence around the house, goat area, and chicken barn so that Rooster can run all around here without being able to run down the road and chase cows again. And we got one of those auto gates for the bottom of the driveway that opens when you push a button in the car.

The problem is whenever we leave Rooster will go out the gate when its open... so there needs to be some way of holding him for just a couple minutes while we are leaving, I thought there would be such a thing as a gate that opens with a timer... or even a leash that releases. I only found one thing, a really expensive solar gate timer. I keep thinking there is a simple solution or I'm overthinking it. A normally-closed solenoid on a gate that has a spring?

Any ideas?

I have thought of two ways and combined them.  It will be a PITA but it work.  Build a human operated gate in front of the electric wire gate.  When he tries to pass through the human gate shoo him back and say "back" firmly.  If he tries again give him a zap with a shock collar and say "back" even for firmly.  When he no longer tries to escape just open up the human gate but have the shock collar charged and the buzzer in your hand should you have to zap him.

I've never used a shock collar, but they are a good way to teach a dog what it should not do.  Only use it if you know what you are doing.  In the hands of assholes they can cause dogs serious emotional damage.

This is what it says on the Anatolian website.

"This breed is, first and foremost, a guarding dog, with strong independence and dominance drives, and it requires a responsible approach to successful management. Time and effort is required to keep Anatolians socialized and well-behaved. They are very strong and can be very stubborn at times. If you are looking for a dog that will obey at the drop of a command, then this is not the dog for you."

We found out this is true. Its so big and independent minded, when he decides he is going to do something he just does it and commands don't mean anything. He will go out the driveway gate when you are in the car and the auto gate is open.

He has his own pen in the middle of the goats. I was hoping to find a device that would open his little pen gate after a short time, so that when we are leaving we would put him in there and set a 5-minute timer. I thought a thing like that would be a common thing people would want, but I guess not since there is no such thing.

We have a shock collar that we got years ago for the goat murdering pointer. That might be the way to go.

Or maybe this...

You need something like a garage door opener that you can activate after the driveway gate is closed.  I am sure there is something smaller and cheaper but don't ask me what it is.

I'm not afraid of work.  I can lay down right next to it and go to sleep.

That is a wonderful device!  It just needs to be hooked up to a timer.
