Looking forward to seeing your new babies.

Liz's great packing job! I would trust her to ship one of my kids!

Nice and toasty. Remember the temp gun is ?5? It didn't feel like it was 93.

The water was a lot softer then what they were going into. I decided to drip acclimate them to there new home. It might take longer but it's better then the shock they would of had going straight into the tank.

I kept the lights low for the first few hours. I also left them to be. partly because at this point Michelle reminded me about the dentist.
I could tell that they were stressed. but they did come from a box then a bucket. they had a hard day, poor things.

Here is the last pic. They look better with the light on. I'm so happy with them. Now to grow them strong like bull!

I have a video too. but it's still loading on youtube. It will be a few minutes for that.
Looking good there, Scott..... ;D....heat pack??
Dang, they did get a little warm in there, didn't they? It's OK. Discus can take the heat. I put in 2 heat packs after I checked your weather. I should have stuck with just one.
I tried to send 3 each males and females but the only way to guess at this age is by size.
I was thinking the same thing about there temp. Here is the video. There kind of picking at there food in it. They did attack the ball of worms when I first put it in. They acted like they haven't eating in a few days LOL.
Good luck with those Scott. ;D ;D ;D
[/b]They acted like they haven't eating in a few days LOL.
You don't say? I guess it's because they haven't. It was hard for me to starve them but it's a must.
They sure do look little in that 40. I selected 6 for myself and mine look little in the 30 I put them in. Give them lots of light. I've found that it keeps pepper from showing up. I saw pattern starting to develop on the largest one I sent. Do you see it or is he stressed and faded? First they turn in to normal patterned Pigeons once they get around 5" some of the striations break up into spots if you're lucky. I hope they all grow up to be spotted white Pigeons like their daddy. He's a stunner.
Have I thanked you yet Liz? these guys and girls are so cute!
Yep, I can see the patterns in them. there still a little faded but if you look hard you can see it. I set this tank up for discus when I got my first fry. I painted the bottom white and the back is a very light blue. I was told before to keep things as light colored as possible to prevent peppering. I have a checker board that his peppering went away after being in this tank. Too bad he's stunted. He would of been a nice fish.
You've thanked me via PM and on the forum. You're very welcome. I love it when I make someone happy.
They are soooo cute. Best of luck growing them out Scott. Nice little guys Liz. :)
Great lookin' fish Liz, best of luck with them Scott! ;)
Dennis
Thanks Guys, Liz has done all the hard work. The discus look even better today! They ate some Frenzy Super Max today. They also came right up top to eat. They don't seem to be as shy as my other discus where when I first got them.
Here is one showing off his patterns.

Wow!!!
Those are going to be real nice...... ;D
Great pic, Scott. Do you have any Teenie Greenie? I meant to toss a sample in the box but I forgot. Discus like to graze along the bottom and the Teenie Greenie sinks.
I have sinking 40. Not sure if there the same only smaller.

40 is bigger.....I may have some extra teenie greenie, and itsy bitsie teenie greenie if you need it.....?
Itsy Bitsy is perfect for now. They also eat the normal teenie greenie but they have to pic at it a bit before they get it small enough to fit in their mouths. Discus' mouths are very small relative to their size. I still give my kids from the same batch BBS once in a while. I can stick some of the Greenies in the mail for you if you like.
I have some of each . . . . .

;D +1......yes you do.....and if he gets mine first, then we'll both need more...LOL
It's been about two weeks with the lovely discus from Liz. There doing great! growing like weeds and eating everything they can find. They are getting prettier by the day.

...yes they are getting prettier by the day.. ;D....dang gorgeous looking discus..
I like that one in the back. Looks like it's got an attitude. :D :D :D
Dennis
Thanks Guys, they all have attitudes. There not like my other discus. these guys aren't shy at all. They come up to meet anyone near the tank. They also seem to enjoy playing in the water when I refill the tank. My older discus will hide when I do tank maintenance. They will come to the front of the tank when I'm alone with them. If a strange is in the room they hide. It seems they have to warm up to you before they come out to say hi.

Did Liz teach em to catch the 'meeses' too.... ;D
I'm not sure if they would catch 'meeses' yet, probably nibble there toes. LOL

LOL......
They certainly are pretty Scott.
I'm impressed. Scott. I'll look closely tomorrow when the tank lights come back on, but I swear you are doing a better job with yours than I am with mine. You have the magic Discus grow out touch. Genetics are important. I selected good fish. But with Discus grow out is more inportant.
I don't think that they'll take to meese. I caught one today and no Discus jumped out to try to eat it ;)
Thanks Liz and Pauline, I'm trying my best to grow them strong like bull. It helps that they came from good stock. I just give them plenty of water changes and lots of good food.
