They stopped doing this way before I came around. Heard about it a few years ago and became enamored with the rhymes. Bought a couple of books on them.

When we traveled, my brother and sisters used to read them in unison...LOL.....sometimes Mom and Dad too..... 8) that and we counted cows on either side of the road....LOL.....girls counted browns, Jeff and I, counted the blacks.....

Back before PC South of the Border used to have a ton of signs on 301 north and south. Me and sis used to read those aloud on our trips from NY to FL.

I like to admire the graffiti on the cars these days. When I was little my mom would drive into town for whatever. I'd wait in the car (kids were safe back then). When a train passed buy I'd always wave to the caboose. I don't know why, it must have been something in a book that said you should wave to the caboose. Once a guy on the back of the caboose waved back. I was so excited. I said, "Mommy, the caboose waved back!" She wasn't impressed. I don't even remember the Burma Shave signs. I remember my parents talking about them, though.

Never did that. The caboose was an EOT. Now it's a red light on the last car.
