...fish.......Kh for plants then?

...I don't believe there is an "optimal" GH or KH. It's going to vary for different plants, as well as fish... I just try to keep mine stable...

..me too....we have good water here..neutral PH out of the tap....tds's near 200 tho...considering getting a decent RO system....got rid of the rental unit a while back..RO units are much cheaper now than years past.....

We already have plants in about every tank, but thought about a nice 'show' type tank to house some retired stock....

A low kH is necessary if I want the eggs to hatch, but I'm into soft water fish. It all depends on the species of fish you want to raise. There is a trick that let's eggs hatch with the expense waste of RO. It works in my water, don't know if It would in yours. I don't think that gH matters much, at least with Discus. I believe that fish get minerals from their food, not the water. At least that has been my experience.
I don't have a clue about plants. I only know that the easy ones do fine in my tap water. My parameters after aging are pH 7.2 gH 6 and Kh 4.5.
...you folks rock !....... :) |^| :)
