Lord, that brings back memories. Dad would never let us hunt squirrel with a shot gun.
The sheep farmer next to grandpa wouldn't let us hunt squirrel on his place. I'd sit about 20 yards from the line fence with a fox call. The big old red squirrels would always come across the fence to see what was going on..... ;)

LOL..my Dad let my brother and I start out with a 4/10....then the shotguns when we were proficient..
My daddy gave me an old Sears 22/410 over and under. Best squirrel gun I ever have had. I would just love to get hold of some rabbit
My Dad gave me an old J C Higgins 12 ga pump, with the plug removed....4 in/ i in the chamber..full poly choke.....best goose/duck gun that I ever owned....that was my introduction to a real shotgun.
I shot skeet/trap with that for years....LOL....it made me a dead eye shot come the season...
I carried a J C Higgins .22 for squirrel and a 20ga Remington 870 pump for rabbit, birds and deer.
My uncle Roger would take me to Wright-Pat Air force base to shoot skeet. He shot all over Europe in the Army and had the sweetest Winchester 101's.
