How long can pairs go before they do the deed when tubes are down, they're beating the crap out of the cone, and the females are fat as pigs with eggs?

I have two pairs that are driving me nuts.  I moved them to breeding tanks night before last.  I thought that they'd spawn right away.  Is this normal?

Both pairs are spawning now.  The Discus wigglers are wanting to mutiny but they're not quite ready.   The few that have broken away have gone straight to mom to nibble her slime coat.  Then she catches them and spits them back on the cone.  It won't be long.
