When I moved across the states for college I left all my fish tanks behind. I dabbled a little in saltwater last year but had to sell the tank when I left for the military so it didn't crash while I was gone. But even while I was playing with corals and clownfish, I still missed my angelfish. So my sister handed me down a 60gallon tank to set up in the living room. I found new homes for all her fish and have started over. Completely rearranged the fake plants and driftwood. I've got 5 sterabai Cory cats in there now. Will add two more tomorrow. And I'm super excited for 4 wild cross veil angels coming from Angels Plus next Tuesday. Thinking rummy nose for the schooling fish since they move so nicely. Anyway, just wanted to share. I've missed this more than I can say.
It's good to have you back in the game. Once you're hooked I guess you're hooked for good.
Welcome back Owl. |^| |^| |^|
Thanks guys! Fingers crossed the angels coming next Tuesday do well during shipment

Good thing you didn't order later in the year.
A guy i know ordered some wild crosses last winter, delivered Dec.31, to the Chicago area, shipped with NO styro.
I couldn't believe it,Steve's been shipping for decades and did something that stupid.
Of course they were all DOA.
He did get refunded, but was pretty unset as he was waiting for some to become available for a while.
These were the fish.

Holy cow, No styrofoam? That's crazy! Chicago winters get crazy cold. Especially by that late in December. Those were beautiful fish too, I have a soft spot for wilds. Did he order again? Most of Angels Plus reviews seem pretty good so I don't expect to have problems. But with the delays in shipping because of Covid I am worried a little. I've moved out to Nevada now and I believe he's in New York? I look forward to seeing them. Buying sight unseen makes me a little nervous. I've always been one for wysiwyg auctions, even if it's pricier, because I prefer to see what exactly I'm getting. They didn't have any standard fins available so I hope the veils have fins as straight as those in the video. I will post pictures when they arrive!
I doubt you will have a problem with the quality of the fish.
When i got my Dantums from him they were packaged the same way,no styro box.
Bag wrapped it some foam crap, and in a cardboard box.
I was upset to receive them that way, luckily the weather was good and they arrived fine.
I would NEVER ship fish without a styro,to much chance of a sudden temp change.
Hell charge me $5 for a styro box if you have to,but get them to me alive and in good shape.
Hmmm that's an odd way of shipping. I don't think I've ever received fish from other sellers without the styrofoam before. I would definitely pay the extra $5 for it. If I'm spending over $100 on fish the last thing I want is for them to be DOA.
I got fish shipped like that from Angels Plus. I have not since purchased a live fish from them since.
Definitely makes me more nervous to have them shipped so far like that. I'm very confused as to why he would ship this way. I guess it's had to have been working for him? huh I'm surprised no one has mentioned this in any of the reviews I've read.
How did they arrive?
In a cardboard box like everyone said. There was water in the bottom of the box because one of the bags was leaking and UPS dropped them off at the wrong house. Luckily the person saw live fish on the box and drove them to my house within a half hour. Thankfully they all made alive and are doing pretty well. I attached a photo of my favorite, it's covered in glitter!
...what a gorgeous fish!... |^|
I agree, just beautiful! Why is it on a towel though?

Haha, it's not on a towel. That's the texture of the wall behind the tank! I will eventually paint the back of the glass black. I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Thank you! The smallest is about 100% glitter too but with more of a blue sheen! The third fish only really has the iridescence near it's face but has the nice smooth body shape. And the fourth is somewhere in the middle as far as the sparkle goes. I will get better photos when they warm up. I had to alter the flow on the tank because it was a little too much for the veils and it spooked them this morning.

Nope! I was on the phone with UPS, they were going to have the driver re-trace his steps when a random vehicle stopped in front of my house and brought the box to me. I am extremely great full they were so quick to bring me the box. It could've ended very badly.

Glad they made it okay.
The glitter looks fantastic.
That is a stunning Angelfish. Are I would love some fry if you plan to breed in the future, as long as you don't ship them in a plain cardboard box ::)

Haha for sure. I hope to get a pair out of them. With some good luck I might get two! Though I imagine that's more wishful thinking than anything. They've got a bit of growing to do still, they are a little larger than silver dollar sized right now.
Some new photos, they are still very shy and hard to photograph as they get nervous and hide when I get close to the tank. They have been bickering all day and establish a pecking order. I edited the posts so the photos can be viewed larger.
The 3rd and 4th fish. They are all very different. The smallest has the brightest blue sheen, the one with the most glitter has the bumpiest head shape, the one with the least glitter has the smoothest/ roundest body but the veil is set back slightly and the final fish is somewhere in middle of everybody.
Just wanted to share! The angels have spawned already |^| and have made it through the first 24 hours in a community tank! I'm incredibly impressed they've lasted this long and haven't been eaten yet. It's a small spawn but I'm excited to see how this goes, I've never had parent raisers before.
I bet you're on top of the world. Hope they make it to wiggler stage. When will you put the pair in their own breeding tank?
...that's great...isn't it interesting some of the places they pick to lay their spawn?... :D
...good luck with them!...
Thank you! I wasn't expecting a spawn so soon! I thought they were a little small to be honest. Sure surprised me! And they probably won't get their own tank until they prove to me they can parent raise to free wrigglers stage. I used to pull skates but I'm not too interested in doing that right now.
We have wrigglers!!!! Yay!
That's just great! Hope the parents take good care of them!

Just an update, my rummy nose ate the last spawn bit they have a new larger spawn from yesterday and I put a divider in the tank. Today the second two fish spawned! So I have two pairs! Both with eggs, a day apart!
That is totally cool. Are both pairs in the same tank? I hope not. It's good if they can see one another, though. It makes them more protective of their own kids.
They are in the same tank, with an egg crate divider in place. I don't have any other tanks at the moment other than the 60 gallon community so I may just end up removing the schooling fish and leave it as a split pair tank. I honestly wasn't expecting them to be spawning this soon. Figured they needed to grow some first.
