Has anyone here had a problem using a water hose like you hook up to the outside faucet to water the lawn and plants for WC for your fish?  Supposedly they are treated with fungicides that are harmful to the fish.

I have not had that problem, but it sounds feasible.

Run out the water sitting in the hose before using it.
Water sitting in the hose can accumulate more contaminants over time.
Water rushing through the hose will have less exposure time to accumulate bad stuff.
An old hose would probably be better than a new one, since some of the bad stuff would already be gone.

I have a hose reel in the basement just for water changes that I've used for years. I run all hot to rinse the hose before I use it. That rinses out any stagnant water from inside and pre-heats the hose so when I adjust the temp it stays put.

I use a thick heavy black hose from the WallyWorld outdoor department...

I use drinking water safe hose from the RV department at WalMart.....
