Her caretaker called me at work today.  Delores died this morning.  It's for the best.  She was suffering and there was no way she could have recovered.

That's sad.....RIP, Delores...

At least the suffering didn't linger too long. RIP.

Thanks, guys.  I bet that I've gotten more condolences from y'all that her son gets from other folks.  She drove all potential friends off except me.  She wasn't a nice person.   But she was old and lonely and strong, and needed a friend.  I got mad at her and stomped off more than once, but she'd call and ask me to come back, and I always did.

I just called her house hoping that her son, Greg would answer but figuring that nobody would.  I don't have his cell number and he doesn't have a land line. Calling her house was my only hope.  He was there and picked up.  We had a good long talk...a very good long talk  about his mom.  He knows what she was like.  He grew up with her.  He had no illusions.  But he's still suffering, of course, because she was his mother.  I think I gave him some comfort.  Death is hard on the living, too.

You were a good friend for her Liz. May she rest in peace.
When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because those weirdos are your tribe.  (Sweatpants & Coffee)

I think it was good that you two talked. You both needed to hear the other's experiences with her...it completes the circle of both her friend, and her family.

You did good as her friend Liz.  She enjoyed those visits and beers.

Doesn't sound like she will be missed by to many,if any.
Seems like she didn't want any friends, and likely got her wish.

She had me.  I was her only real friend and I will miss her.

Let's not post to this thread any more.  She's dead and gone.  It's over.
Always move forward. Never look back.

You have a heart of gold Liz, bless you.  RIP Deloris.
