I always heard "Found On Roadside, Dead".  I don't believe it though, because my old "fish-mobile" is still in the neighborhood and moving onto 170,000+ miles!........Just so you know!  2c2

My towing guy told me after he moved Charlotte to load her that he knew that she would need a new heart.  The first thing he thought of an old Blazer he picked up dead along the side of the road.  It happens.  He thought that it might help me but might help me.  We decided together that it was not good putting parts from a car found dead along the side of the road.

I don't believe that a ford heart would fit.  I wanted to get her a V6 heart but it cost too much.
With the right adapter any engine will fit. But really just put a Toyota engine in her.

This about Charlotte not Ford vs Chevy.  I miss her so much.  I didn't visit her Friday because I didn't have a good excuse and didn't want to make a fool of myself for visiting a truck.  I will drive in and visit her Monday morning.  I'll have a lame but honest excuse.  Y'all don't know what it like to love a truck.  It feels as though part of me is missing without her snuggled up safe and happy in the carport.  She is a fine honest old lady.  She never lied to me.  I knew that her motor would go.  I bought her knowing.

My S-10 has a clicking sound.  I think it's got a crack in the flywheel.  Started out only making the noise when it was really cold and then went away when it warmed up, but over the last 15,000 miles it has gotten progressively worst.  It's also got the 4 cylinder engine.  On a good day it gets the same gas mileage as my old Isuzu 6 cylinder which had much more power.

How did Johnny Cash say it?

The transmission was a 53
And the motor turned out to be a 73
So when we put in the bolts
All the holes were gone

We lined it up so it would fit
And with a little bit of help from an adaptor kit
We had that engine running just like a song.

Guess what?  Mom drove in to visit me today and BJ told her that the heart surgeons will rebuild my old heart.  It's because the company didn't have a heart like mine in stock.  But mom and I like the idea of me having the heart I was born with.  The down side is that instead of being ready to go home later this week it will be between 2 and 3 weeks.

I heard a caller on Car Talk ask what part of the car held it's soul.  Was the car ever the same after it's engine had been replaced?  The question was unresolved but it's a good question.  We all know that vehicles have personalities.  It makes me feel better that Charlotte will get back the heart that she was born with.  And all because the rebuilding company didn't have one like hers in stock.  The fates smiled on us, I guess huh

As much as I have been hating my Dakota I sure did miss it after the accident. Was borrowing the father in laws Tacoma for about a full month. I also rented a F150 for a week. But it's back now and it's all repainted and the transmission is shifting right now. Still a bit of adjustment needed on the driver door.
It's bigger than the standard cab Tacoma but alas with the little one it is getting a bit cramped. But I do understand the pain Liz. I sure do.

At least in June I am getting my sister's Camry.

Mom visited me today.  She didn't want to bother anyone.  She just wanted to see me rub me with her jacket sleeve,  and give me a little kiss.  BJ saw her and talked to her.  He said that he wanted to replace my clutch and showed her how to look at it to see that it was getting thin.  He asked when my water pump had last been replaced and she didn't know.  BJ will replace that, too.

BJ told her that my heart might be in Tuesday!  He said that when she got me back, I would be good as new.  Mom took that with a grain of salt.  After all, I am 27 years old.

The guy who removed my heart was there.  He always gets a kick out of it when mom visits.  Mom likes that.

That was a very smart decision to change those two parts now while she is out of body as it would be more expense to do it later after she is back up and running like a well tuned top.
