Does anybody have experience with live ones? How difficult are they? Is there a big advantage over freeze dried?

Me! I love the live. I always keep them. I keep 1 1/2lbs. in a shallow 10X12 inch container in the container in the fridge. I rinse them once daily with dechlorinated water. They last until you feed them all up.
They are much better than freeze dried because they don't foul the water. They stay alive in the tank until the fish eat them all up, and have the wiggle factor that the freeze dried don't. Most importantly they are unprocessed. It is my belief that with processing nutrition is lost.
Their draw back is that they require maintenance and they are expensive due to the FedEx overnight shipping. All my fish get a treat once in a while. I feed them daily to my breeders and to fry.
We use live bloodworms also. I would recommend getting a blackworm keepers that California Blackworms has on his page. http://www.aquaticfoods.com/BlackwormKeepersM.html (http://www.aquaticfoods.com/BlackwormKeepersM.html). We have tried other means of keeping them and found this to be the best of the of the best...
Here is the a review we did of them. (http://www.mugwump-fish-world.com/index.php?topic=1612.msg14749#msg14749 (http://www.mugwump-fish-world.com/index.php?topic=1612.msg14749#msg14749))
This little box keeps them for a long long time. as Liz Said you have to change the water on it daily. So little to no maintenance...
I've tried getting a hold of Dan, but no response yet...I'll check again...was wondering if wanted to continue to sponsor us..and he hasn't posted any specials in a while...??
Sounds good thanks for the input I'll have to give them a try

Saw that...I finally got a hold of him by Email..awaiting reply now
I feed them. I keep them in a container of water on ice in a cooler...hubby doesn't like seeing them in the fridge. They get thoroughly rinsed off each day at least once per day.
A tip I got from my LFS.....I use a syringe, sans needle, to suck some up and the squirt as many as I want into each tank.
Great idea Pauline! I'll try a food baster. I just ordered a pound from CA blackworms. I let them know I heard about them here.
