The best [in my opinion] Christmas story on film or TV. It has the brilliant writing of Rod Serling and an Emmy-worthy performance by Art Carney as a down and out alcoholic department store Santa who is redeemed by a magic gift-giving bag.

This is a Kinkade. Pretty much the same although I must admit that Kinkade is the better "asrtis".
Pretty picture, did you know that he died a few years ago? For some reason it was kept kind of quiet. We have one of his prints, a lighthouse at the beach.

Price Tag for '12 Days of Christmas' Inches Higher
Lords a-leaping is the U.S. economy slow to recover!
The cost of 10 lords a-leaping increased 3 per cent over last year, but nine of the other 11 gifts listed in the carol, "The Twelve Days of Christmas" stayed the same price as last year.
That's the finding of the 32nd annualPNC Wealth Management Christmas Price Index released Monday. The index is a whimsical way the Pittsburgh-based bank tracks inflation.
The set of gifts spelled out in the final verse of the song would cost $34,131U.S. this year, or 0.6 per cent more
than the adjusted 2014 price of $33,933.
PNC decided to adjust the historic prices of turtle doves and swans after realizing the prices quoted by vendors didn't reflect the birds' overall value on the open mar ket over the years,
The only other items to increase in price since last year were a partridge in a pear tree and two turtle doves.
The bird in the bush rose 3.5 per cent , overall because because partridges now cost $25 each up from $20, because partridges are increasingly popular as gourmet food. Pear trees inched up from $188 to just under $190.
Turtle doves increased 11.5 per cent from $260 to $290 mostly the result of increased grain prices that pushed up feed costs.
The lords a-leaping are more expensive be cause labour costs increased their price from $5,348 to $5,509.A buyer who purchased all the items each time t hey are mentioned in the song would spend $155,407.18!

It was something of a Christmas ritual at Hunter S. Thompson?s Colorado cabin, Owl Farm. Every year, his secretary Deborah Fuller would take down the Christmas tree and leave it on the front porch rather than dispose of it entirely. That?s because Hunter, more often than not, wanted to set it on fire. In 1990, Sam Allis, a writer for then formidable TIME magazine, visited Thompson?s home and watched the fiery tradition unfold. I gave up on the interview and started worrying about my life when Hunter Thompson squirted two cans of fire starter on the Christmas tree he was going to burn in his living-room fireplace, a few feet away from an unopened wooden crate of 9-mm bullets. That the tree was far too large to fit into the fireplace mattered not a whit to Hunter, who was sporting a dime-store wig at the time and resembled Tony Perkins in Psycho. Minutes earlier, he had smashed a Polaroid camera on the floor.
Hunter had decided to videotape the Christmas tree burning, and we later heard on the replay the terrified voices of Deborah Fuller, his longtime secretary-baby sitter, and me off-camera pleading with him, ?NO, HUNTER, NO! PLEASE, HUNTER, DON?T DO IT!? The original manuscript of Hell?s Angels was on the table, and there were the bullets. Nothing doing. Thompson was a man possessed by now, full of the Chivas Regal he had been slurping straight from the bottle and the gin he had been mixing with pink lemonade for hours.
The wooden mantle above the fireplace apparently still has burn marks on it today. It?s one of the many things you can check out when Owl Creek starts running museum tours in the near future.
