The Danio cf choprae also known as species Putao now has been described and named by Sven Kullander.
A copy of the paper can be found here http://www.pfeil-verlag.de/04biol/pdf/ief23_3_05.pdf (http://www.pfeil-verlag.de/04biol/pdf/ief23_3_05.pdf)

Very interesting. Nice to be able to get the paper also. Thanks a lot Dennis, great find.
I have some D. choprae. It does not see an easy thing to distinguish between the two species. I'll have to read the paper since I have only glanced at it so far. I think I'll have to put them in a photo box and take some pictures. The color on the anal and dorsal fins looks different.
I have been selling some Danios to a lab in town here. Maybe I can give them some and convince them to do some sequencing.
In this Aquarium Glaser Newsletter for the week of October 29th, 2010 the fish displayed are Danio flagrans - just to put a face to the name!
