Lost a good one here.  John Prine died on April 7, 2020, of complications caused by COVID-19.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Prine#Death

Very true, Dennis.  He did a wonderful interview with Terry Gross on Fresh Air that I heard not long after he died.  He went into much more detail about that song and I also learned a lot about his life that I didn't know.  I bet I could find a link if you'd like to hear it.  Wonderful man with a beautiful heart.
Always move forward. Never look back.

I've like him since his first album came out in the early 1970's.
His songs are both simple and deep.
Been laying a lot of his songs recently.

same sang (which is one of my favorites of his), different setting, younger age:

Thanks for mentioning this Liz, I found the interview, ( https://www.npr.org/2018/06/18/621022949/john-prine-on-music-cancer-and-why-he-never-thought-hed-be-a-recording-artist ).

Visiting Paradise has been on my bucket list for many years now.  Should make a nice weekend trip on the bike.  Google says it's a little over 300 miles from here.

I just ran into another, Dennis.  It was on American Roots from PRS.  The program was a full 2 hrs long totally devoted to the memory of Prine.  It was interspersed with his songs and storied of his life.

My God he was a more complex man that I had imagined.  Can you believe that he wrote this when he was just 21.

Very cool.  Thanks again Liz.  Tracked this one down at http://americanroutes.wwno.org/archives/show/543/John-Prine

The local PBS radio station has a early morning country / bluegrass show that I've been listening to for years.  Got hooked on John Prine shortly after his first album came out back in the 70's.
