Title: Sterbai Cories Available
Post by: TNT77 on September 09, 2013, 06:36:49 PM
I have sterbai cories available at $4 each. This is for delivery only (for now) to the gcca swap on 9/22. Let me know how many you want and a name to hold them under. I will have a table set up under TNT Aquatics.
I hate my first post being a for sale thread but I was referred here. :) So a big HI.

I will try to catch some shots of some of the last group I received soon.

Dang!  I thought that I was the only one here that wouldn't be attending.  You might be able to twist somebody's arm to pick some up for you.

Thinking of that, perhaps I'll get lucky and find someone to pick some up for me and then ship them to me.  I don't know.  Asking someone to ship is asking a big favor.  I'd rather bleed than ship, but then, I'm nuts.

It's just possible Liz, ya know there's a box heading your way anyway, right?.... ;D

I'd forgotten about that.  I must have had it in my mind on a different page.  Thank you.  I will work out the details and let you know :-*

Im guessing 1.5" but Ive never measured cories before. Im hoping to only bring sold ones as I need all the tank space for discus. But I might find a small tank around here to toss them in.

What to do, what to do.  That is the question...Mug is sending me some of his BN anyway.  But I don't want to put him out.  I'll chat with him and then let you know, OK?

Tara....save me (5) of them....that way you won't have to go to the trouble of setting up anything....we'll add them to out sterbia pod...we need some xtras and new blood would be excellent.
I'll swing over and get them at the swap.

I will have to keep an eye on that. My pairs are finally starting to kick back into gear after my water setback a few months ago. And I always have odd ball fish overflowing my tanks. Like these guys. One of my favorite fish. Other than discus of course.

I would be willing to trade your bag of sterbai for a bag of dwarf bristlenose if you have any. :) Albino or regular either works. Prefer shortfin.

Hi, Tara, welcome to the form. I am Mugwump`s wife , we do have short fin plecos that we can bag up for you, both brown and albino. these little guys are not related, so you can breed them together. Our browns throw off albinos with browns, so it`s a good mix.

note by me  ;D...we have some that are 'het' for LF too, if ya want?

That would be perfect. I want to get a breeding group together so bag some up for me. However many you think I need to get going and I will throw some extra cories your way.

Yes she is a nut. She has a Angel  that I was going to cull, It's also in a 10 gallon until I get her bigger tank running. She thinks she saved it's life. I think I should of finished the job. Poor fish only has part of it's dorsal fin. She named it Gimpy.

How often does the GCCA put on this swap?
Title: Re: Sterbai Cories Available
Post by: Mugwump on September 23, 2013, 12:25:22 PM
They''ll run close to every month through spring....but QC club, Greenwater, and Milwaukee clubs have them in between....as in Oct/Nov....QC 27th/GCCA Nov.3rd/ Milwaukee 2nd week....there's others too, Madison usually has a meet in the fall too....

OKay.  Seems like they use these as fundraisers like our club does monthly auctions after the meetings!
Title: Re: Sterbai Cories Available
Post by: P4Angels2 on September 23, 2013, 01:11:58 PM
Not quite the same Ron. The GCCA is a host of people from all over the midwest, breeders wholesalers and other business selling their goods. There is no profit split at the GCCA like GSAS takes from items that are sold at any of the auctions.

Righto, Aron, Lori....the tables are $45 each, $40 for members, they charge a nominal admission fee for the buyer attendee's ....plus they do have a support the club table...now the GCCA auctions, the club takes a percentage of each bag/item sold.....swaps and auctions are different in structure.

Here the gsas takes a percent of everything sold at their auctions.  And even if a minimum bid to start is posted on the item auctioneer doesn't always follow.  We set a minimum bid for Angelfish and auctioneer sold them for like 3.00...

I didn't mean that the swaps took part of the sales $$$ from each vendor.  That would be very hard to monitor.  I meant it is a monthly fundraiser from the table fees and admissions.

Yep...those big banquet hall rooms aren't cheap...they pay for the hall, and advertising, etc..then save what's left for more events and prizes, club picnics, etc...the swaps are great public exposure, lots of folks join right at the swaps...in May they hold a 4 day 'Cichlid Classic'..it's a huge event with trophy's and such....you have to make something to support all this and grow. We've had swaps with a few thousand people showing up...the 'Classic' uses major hotels for guests and participants...you just need to get, and keep, your name out there...advertise, hold events, attend other clubs functions, etc...
